Book a notary
On-site signings across Vallejo, American Canyon, Benicia, Fairfield, Suisun City and Napa — hospitals, care facilities and homes.
Request an appointment
This sends a request, not a confirmed appointment. I will call you back to confirm the details and quote the fee — nothing is booked and nobody travels until that fee is agreed.
How an appointment works
- A short call first. Which document you have, what identification the signer holds, who needs to be present, and whether the signer is able to acknowledge the signing. This is procedural — it is not advice about which document to use.
- The fee is quoted and agreed before anyone travels. The notarial act is capped by statute at $15 per signature. Travel and after-hours convenience are separate and are agreed with you up front, in full, before the appointment is confirmed.
- The signing itself, where the signer is.
- A scanned copy the same day, before leaving.
The witness problem, and why a notary solves it
California's statutory power of attorney and advance health care directive may each be executed with either two qualified witnesses or a notary. In a hospital or care facility, qualified witnesses are genuinely hard to find — the treating provider, facility staff and the person being named as agent are all disqualified. A notary removes the problem outright.
One important exception, because people get this wrong: a California will still requires two witnesses, and notarization does not substitute for them.
A notary public is not an attorney and cannot select a document for you or complete one on your behalf. Full disclaimer.
